The staff is NOT AT ALL KID FRIENDLY. They started making up rules, saying that you had to be accompanied by an adult if you were less than 18 years old...to use the restrooms. You read that correctly. According to the staff, you could legally drive a car, but if you had to go to their bathroom or shower, you would need to have a parent accompany you. I pointed out that no where on the website or written rules did it say that you had to be 18 to use the toilets.

Easy hook-ups, very quiet, nice facilities but the pool was empty.

Other than the unfriendly attitude towards kids, the place actually would be nice if you're over 65 and retired. The place has a fun little bar area with two kegs of beer on tap, darts, pool, shuffle board, and horseshoes. (thus the reason for 2 stars instead of 0).

While we were there, i received a voice message from the staff, and i quote: "You need to keep your kids on your site." As if the kids are animals to be caged up on a 10'x20' area. My kids were riding scooters and bikes around. One of the staff actually pulled one of my kids over and told them to get back to our site...again because they were under 18!

I live here. Very nice and quiet community.

My kids are 11 yrs old or younger. We felt very unwanted by the STAFF. However, the people that are staying in the park were very nice, smiled and waved to the kids with every interaction that I witnessed. I just wish the staff would have reflected their residents' attitude.

However, we will never go back because we were clearly not welcome. I really wish that they would say, "no kids allowed" on their website. That would have saved everybody a lot of hassle.

The park was safe, and the staff was polite. This is an Encore park and has adopted the airlines fee mentality. The park is 85% permanent park models. There is space for shorter stays but the park is geared toward the full time park models. I expected Cable and Wifi for $40/night plus fees. We stayed in a 36 foot motor home. Cable is only available if you call the cable company and set up an account, not viable for a 3 day stay. The Wifi is pay as you go with different terms and options from $3.95/day to $360 for a year. The only surprise was that they didn't meter my electric by the day. The top 6" of the sewer came off when I tried to remove the cap. It was never glued to start with and the neighbor said he had knocked it off several times with his golf cart. The maintenance staff fixed it promptly. There is also a fair amount of road noise coming from outside the park. A friend who stayed in a small travel trailer at the same time mentioned that the bath house was clean, but the hot water was little to none.

You're just going to have to trust me. Their customer service is horrible. Better not have a question. Let alone a problem. I don't care if it's the "holiday weekend" or not. If customers are there, someone should be there. Or at the absolute least there should be a working phone # to get help whenever it is needed. All I got when I called the 2 available #s was a voice mailbox that was filled & the other was an answering machine but no one ever called me back. We got there after closing. Got our map to our site which was nicely posted on a bulletin board outside of the office. And it was all downhill after that. We set up our rv & as we were doing that, we discovered that the place was infested with mean little red ants that bit us up. And not just us but our dogs too! Poor things. Had to get them off of their feet before they went mad! Electric hookup boxes were old & dangerous. And cable didn't work. We left the next morning. Went to Three Lakes. It was 1 1/2 miles away. Beautiful property, 24 hr customer support, less expensive. Someone on the property always. We were just coming in & saw a man who worked there. He had just finished his shift but he was kind enough to take us to the big map so that we could find site. He watched us as we headed towards it & pointed towards where we should go. Nice man. Beautiful grounds. And gated too. Super helpful customer service. Very well done Three lakes!!! Thumbs down to Barrington Hills
